Doodie grew up in Carlsbad, and graduated from the Carlsbad High School in 1956. She then went on to work at the Carlsbad National Bank for 43 years. Doodie had the biggest heart, and seemed to have an endless amount of love to give. She spent many decades volunteering at Lakeview Christian Home, making every single person there feel loved and special. She was a faithful follower of Christ, and was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and then a part of the ministry at Lakeview. Doodie always had the biggest and warmest smile to greet you when you entered the room. With never having a family of her own, she helped raised her many nieces and nephews over the years. They each held a special place in her heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love and joy for life will live on within each of them.

Doodie was preceded in death by her father, Hiram Madison Neatherlin; mother, Julia Lewis Neatherlin; three siblings: James H. Neatherlin, Bennie L. Neatherlin, and Emma Thorp Hickman; and great nephew, Jasbo Whitfield.

Doodie is survived by her brother, John Neatherlin and wife, Fran of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Mary Eklund of Gilbert, AZ; thirteen nieces and nephews: Sheila Neatherlin, Frances Neatherlin, Patrick Smith (Mashelle), Riley Smith, Jimmy Neatherlin (Chris), Jeff Neatherlin (Gentry), Joel Neatherlin (Denise), Bennie Neatherlin (Donna), Notha Stevens (David), Hank Thorp (Davida), Kelly Whitfield (Brad), Marc Thorp, and Serilda Carter (Danny); twenty-six great nieces and nephews; thirty-two great-great nieces and nephews; close cousins: Kandace Marbach, Tina Kincaid, Ande Lea Miller, and Ande Kincaid Marbach; best friend, Emily Weston; and numerous other extended family and dear friends.
