Juanita F. Valdez, 82, of Loving, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Juanita was born on June 24, 1939, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Augustine Florez Sr. and Juana J. Hernandez.

Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Monday, September 20, 2021, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Vigil is scheduled at 6:00 PM Monday, September 20, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Loving, NM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating. Interment will follow at the Loving Cemetery in Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be the following: Felix Valdez, Jr., Kevin Valdez, Michael Valdez III, Ale Gutierrez, Jr., Martin Gutierrez, Joseph Perez, David Valdez, Buddy White, and Gunner Valdez. Honorary pallbearers are all of her grandchildren.

Juanita was loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved decorating and hosting events at her home; having her home full of family and friends gave her such joy. Juanita was a wonderful cook, and she made fresh tortillas every day. She also had a green thumb, and always kept her flower gardens and plants with such care and meticulously kept her house. Juanita found companionship with her loving Huskey Angel. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Juanita was preceded in death by her father, Augustine Florez, Sr.; mother, Juana J. Hernandez; husband, Mike S. Valdez, Sr.; infant son, Lionel Valdez; daughter, Lyla Molina; two grandsons: Henry Gutierrez, Jr. and Efren Gutierrez; three sisters: Celia Franco, Elosia Matta, and Lilly Acosta; two brothers: Pete Jasso and Shutters Hernandez; and maternal grandparents Martin and Angelita Sotelo.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Viola Gutierrez (Henry) of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Sylvia Gutierrez (Alejandro, Sr.) of Loving, NM; son, Mike Valdez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; son, Felix Valdez of Loving, NM; son, Leo Valdez of Carlsbad, NM; son, Eszikel Valdez of Glendale AZ; son, Daniel Valdez (Patty) of Loving, NM; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five brothers: Chooky Hernandez (Mary), Bob Hernandez (Betty), Manuel Uribe, Augustine Florez, Jr. (Delma), and Eloy Florez (Mary Lou); four sisters, Gloria Najera, Pauline Biscaino, Celina Hernandez (Martin Campos), and Vangie F. Valdez (Rudy); and numerous nieces and nephews.
