Juana Ortiz Gonzalez

Juana Ortiz Gonzalez, 92, of S. Maple Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 3, 2026, at Carlsbad Medical Center.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 10, 2026, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Juana was born on June 24, 1934, in Balmorhea, Texas, to Adan and Sista (Quintana) Ortiz. She found joy in caring for her home and family and enjoyed music and dancing, cooking, crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Above all, Juana treasured spending time with her family and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Jose C. Gonzalez; son, Abel Gonzalez; daughter, Amelia Lara; brothers, Albert, Luz, Fred, and Joe Ortiz, Adan and sons-in-law, Ernesto Sosa and Eduardo Sanchez.

Juana is lovingly survived by her children, Criselda Sosa, Jose Armando Gonzalez and partner Diana Gutierrez, Dora Sanchez, Jose Gonzalez, Jr. and wife, Santos Gonzalez, and son, Jesus Sanchez; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will cherish her memory.
