Joseph A. Fuentes, Sr.

Joseph A. Fuentes, Sr., 48, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving followed by a rosary at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2025 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Joseph was born May 13, 1977 in Carlsbad, NM to Joe Fuentez and Lorena Rodriguez. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1995. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from New Mexico State University. Joseph worked as a car salesperson for several years. He volunteered as a coach for many years as his kids were growing up. Joseph coached soccer, baseball, and softball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, Lorena Rodriguez.

Survivors are his children: Mauricio Najera, Anthony Fuentes, Emily Fuentes, and Jovonny Fuentes; mother to his children, Elizabeth Fuentes; father, Joe Fuentez; brother, Jonathan Fuentes and wife, Kim; sisters: Jolynn Fuentes, Elizabeth Fuentes, and Crystal Fuentes; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
