Jose Ornelas Sotelo

Jose Ornelas Sotelo, 65, of Laredo Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 8, 2009 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Sunday, December 13, 2009, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Monday, December 14, 2009, 2:00 PM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Jose Ornelas Sotelo was born June 18, 1944 in Cerro Alto Ojinaga, Mexico to Rafael and Eloisa (Ornelas) Sotelo. He married Alicia Palomares on Jun 21, 1965 in Ojinaga, Mexico. They moved to Pecos and later to Carlsbad in1971. Jose enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Amelia and her family will be waiting with strong faith for the promise of you being resurrected. (John 5: 28-29). Survivors are his wife, Alicia Sotelo; six children: Elida Olivas and husband, Jose, Amelia Quezada and husband, Javier, Jose Alfredo Sotelo and wife, Cynthia, Anabel Hernandez and husband, Marcos, Juana Chavez and husband Juan and Jesus Manuel Sotelo and wife, Angela; 20 grandchildren: Joel, Gerardo and Jared Olivas, Javier and Valeria Quezada; Clarissa, Jose, Alfredo, JR, Josue, Luis and Lucas Sotelo; Marcos A., Melicia and Isaac Hernandez; Jose and Mayra Rocha-Chavez; Jaylin, Daniela and Sierra Sotelo; brother, Guadalupe Sotelo; two sisters: Cruz Olivas and Elva Olivas all of Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be Jose Alfredo, Jesus Manuel, Jose Olivas, Marcos Hernandez, Juan Chavez, Jr., Joel Olivas. Honorary Pallbearers are Javier Quezada, Guadalupe Sotelo and his grandchildren.
