Joe "Chumale" Minjares

Joe "Chumale" Minjares, 91, of West Greene Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28, 2012, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2012, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joe "Chumale" Minjares was born February 27, 1921 in Carlsbad, NM to Juan and Belen (Villava) Minjares. He retired from IMC after many years of service. Chumale enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid sportsman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margarita G. Minjares; sons: Frank Dominguez, Mike Ortiz and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors are five children: Beto Dominguez and wife, Jane of Carlsbad, NM, Trine Armendariz of Loving, NM, Anita Ortiz of Artesia, NM, Ray Ortiz and wife, Yolanda of Carlsbad, NM, Sylvia Porras of Carlsbad, NM; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; three siblings: Eduvijen Ybaben of Carlsbad, NM, Johnny Minjares and wife, Eleaner of LaPuente, CA, Elisa Serrano and husband, Severo of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Latoya Granger, Shadow Rodriguez, Dario Ortiz, Kimberly Granger, Frank Dominguez and Jesse Franco. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
