JoAnn Perry

JoAnn Perry, 81, of S. Ash Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at her home. Visitation will be 4 PM – 6 PM, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, July 5, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lance Redman officiating.

JoAnn was born May 15, 1943 in De Kalb, Texas, to Walter and Viola (Wilson) Griffin. She married Jesse Perry November 27, 1959 in Hobbs, NM. They moved to Carlsbad in 1963. JoAnn owned and operated JoAnn’s Trophies over 30 years. She was an avid dirt bike enthusiast. Together they had a tremendous impact on the dirt bike community, not only in Carlsbad but the entire state of New Mexico. JoAnn was state champion for New Mexico Racquetball Association and won the women’s class of the New Mexico Desert Racing Series. She also enjoyed bowling, water skiing and mountain biking. JoAnn loved attending her children’s many activities through the years and later never missed her grandchildren’s sporting events and competitions. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Griffin and sister, Nell Turrell.

Survivors are her husband, Jesse Perry; daughter, Tina Britain and husband, Stacey; son, Curtis Perry and wife, Michelle; grandson, Dustin Britain and wife, Chelsea; granddaughters: Jordan Britain and husband, Scot, Adrianne Navarrette and husband, Lionel, and Jessica Perry; great-grandchildren: Braxston Britain, Calvin Jaquez, Emmie Navarrette, and Asher Navarrette; sister, Ruth Edwards; sisters-in-law: Susan Odom and husband, Craig, and Vanita Cook and husband, Tony; brother-in-law, Gary Truesdell and wife, Belinda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
