Jesus was raised in Carlsbad NM, when their family moved from Balmorhea, Texas in 1942. At a young age, his parents invested in a large farm, where they became a family of farmers. His parents were young, hard-working, and determined to make a good life for themselves. This greatly influenced Jesus, and it contributed to his hard work ethic and his love of the land. In 1954, Jesus enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he faithfully and honorably served for two years, till 1956. Jesus was honorably discharged in 1962. Thereafter, he worked as a farm laborer, welder and at the Loving Cotton Gin, until he was able to buy his very own farm in 1968, where he worked hard, endless days and nights while he raised his family. He branched out and also did Custom farming for other farmers.

Jesus retired in 1994, after a lifetime of farming, where he grew alfalfa, wheat, grass, cotton and raised his own cattle. He made sure his cattle had water and were fed and cared for before he, himself had breakfast and in the evening before the day ended. He enjoyed playing pool while having a cold beer, as well as when he would go camping, fishing and an occasional bonfire with family and friends. Relaxing and taking a cruise and listening to music, he liked the oldies but goodies, country western and Mexican music. He loved spending time with family during the holidays, birthdays, and special occasions, where he got to socialize with everyone. Also, eating and having a margarita with family at different restaurants. His other joys in life were playing dominos, and watching his favorite TV shows: Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. He cared and loved his chihuahua dog, Ziggy, he called him "Gigi"
