Jessica Isbell Johnson

Jessica Isbell Johnson, 47, of Coleman Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at University Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Eddie Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jessica was born January 20, 1978 in Haskell, Texas to Alvin and Valerie (Tarvin) Isbell. She moved to Loving with her parents at the age of three. Jessica married Larry Wayne Johnson September 6, 1997 at Washington Ranch. She was a volunteer for the Joel Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Jessica was a rodeo mom, driving her kids to numerous states during those years. She also helped her kids during 4-H, Eddy County Fair, and Jack Pot Shows. Jessica was a member of the Eddy County Sherriff’s Posse. She loved fishing, hunting, and taking care of any baby she could.

Jessica was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Survivors are her husband, L. Wayne Johnson; daughter, Jacelyn Marie Johnson; son, Dustin Wayne Johnson; daughter, Trayson Nicole Johnson; parents: Alvin and Valerie Isbell; grandchildren: Brody Wayne Johnson, Kensley Lynn Steffens, and William Thatcher Steffens; sisters: Rebecca Davis and husband, Pecos, Teresa Isbell, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Pecos Davis, Kyran Davis, Corey Limones, Kelly Armstrong, Ty Perry, and Justin Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Tarvin and Cody Tomblin.

Jessica would have loved to help an underprivileged fair participant.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eddy County Fair, PO Box 3273, Carlsbad, NM 88221.
