Jerry Henley

Jerry Henley, 89, passed away on September 9, 2025 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

There will be no visitation. Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, September 15, 2025 at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Simon King officiating. Denton-Wood is in charge of all arrangements.

Jerry Britt Henley was born on January 23, 1936 to John C. and Rosa Lee (Crabb) Henley in Otis, New Mexico.

Jerry grew up working on the family farm and attending school. At the age of 17 he joined the US Navy and served 4 years. Upon his discharge he returned to Carlsbad where he met and married Nancy Honganen. Together they raised four children.

Mr. Henley was employed with IMC Potash for 34 years ending his career as a Hoistman. After retirement, Jerry and Nancy moved to the property they had purchased in Otis near the place of his birth. He spent the next 27 years working everyday maintaining his property. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his outdoor time until his health slowed him down.

Mr. Henley was preceded in death by his parents, son, Britt Henley; sisters: Glenna Lyon, Dorothy Whiteaker, and Billie Lamontine.

Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy; daughters: Shauna Riley (Rocky), Donna Henley, and Brenda Cureton (Terry); sister, Marilyn Honganen; brother, Edward Henley; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Enhabit Hospice for the excellent care during his illness. Also, a special heartfelt thank you to Desna and Jeremy for their compassionate support during his final days.
