Janie Torres

Janie Prieto Cabezuela Torres, 61, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away on June 4, 2026.

Born on September 7, 1964, in Pecos, Texas, Janie was the daughter of Moises Calanche Cabezuela and Genoveva Prieto Cabezuela.

Throughout her life, Janie fulfilled many roles. She was a blessed wife, loving mother, cherished Nani, sister, daughter, tia, cousin, partner in crime, best friend, and the person everyone could count on. She held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including positions at Radio Grill, Dollar Tree, and Walmart. She was also a dedicated babysitter and caregiver, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

On August 18, 1984, she married Ramon Torres, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and family. Janie especially enjoyed cooking, baking, taking photographs, and, most importantly, spending quality time with those she loved. She was always ready for an adventure, especially an occasional trip to the casino.Janie will be remembered not only for who she was, but for how she made others feel. Whether she was lovingly keeping you in line or showering you with affection, she was the keeper of family memories and traditions. Her spirit of love, adventure, forgiveness, and courage will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Ramon Torres; her children, Jason Torres, Ashley Onsurez, and Angelica Torres; as well as her many grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, five nephews, and two nieces.

A visitation will be held at Denton Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. visitation hours will start at 5:00 p.m. and end at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church, located at 2107 W. Church Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico 88220.
