James Alvin "Jim" Schrock

James Alvin "Jim" Schrock, 83, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on January 5, 2026. 

Jim was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on October 05, 1942. He moved to Carlsbad in 1951 and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1961. Jim worked at Nahm’s Shoe Store before starting a 44-year career with American National Insurance, were he earned recognition for his dedication and leadership.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Schrock; sons, Mike Schrock, Mark Schrock and wife, Tiffany; grandchildren, Jennifer Schrock and her partner, Tim Beidler, Quinton Schrock, and Parker Schrock; two great-grandchildren; and several in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Schrock, and brother, Glenn Schrock.

Jim was known for his strength, kindness, and devotion to family. He enjoyed fishing, mountain trips, horses, and supporting his sons’ activities. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, the Team Roping Club, and the life insurance association. The family thanks Lakeview Christian Home for their care and kindness.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date with Gary Davis officiating.
