Ida Ornelas Parraz, 75, of Loving, NM, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026 at her home.  Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, followed by a vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Loving Parish Hall.

Ida was born on June 7, 1951, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, to Francisco and Angelita Ornelas. She was later raised by her grandparents, Espiridion and Simona Ornelas. She grew up in Loving, New Mexico, and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1969.

In 1973, Ida married the love of her life, Alejandro Parraz, beginning a life together filled with family, love, and many cherished memories. Ida was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother whose greatest joy in life came from her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always their biggest sideline cheerleader, proudly supporting them in all that they did. She found great joy in caring for others and dedicated countless hours in the kitchen, cooking and baking for family and friends. Through her food, her laughter, and her loving presence, Ida had a special way of bringing people together and making everyone feel at home.

Ida began her working years as a cashier at Burkham’s Grocery Store in Loving, where she worked for many years. She later continued her career as a cashier at Allsup’s for 18 years. Ida dedicated 24 years of her career to working at Loving Schools, where she built lasting relationships and took great pride in supporting the Loving Falcons.

Ida was a lifelong resident of Loving and touched the lives of many people in countless ways. She will always be remembered for her kindness, contagious smile, big hugs, and unforgettable laughter. Her loving spirit and the memories she created with her family, friends, and community will remain in their hearts forever.

Outside of work, Ida enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her friends, discovering new recipes online, and watching YouTube. She loved trying new recipes and sharing the things she found with the people around her. She cherished the simple moments that brought her happiness and enjoyed making memories with those she loved.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Angelita Ornelas; her grandparents, Espiridion and Simona Ornelas; her beloved grandson, Alejandro Parraz, III; her brother, Frank Ornelas; her sisters, Linda Hinojos, Beatrice Alirez, and Yolanda Garcia; and her father and mother-in-law, Santos and Rosa Parraz.

Ida is survived by her loving husband, Alejandro Parraz; her children, Melissa Contreras (Dennis), Alejandro Parraz, Jr. (Cindy), Michelle Mace (Troy), and Andrew Parraz (Antoinette); her grandchildren, Eric Madrid, II, Brandon Parraz, Alyse Parraz, Ethan Madrid, Karissa Madrid, Mikayla Parraz, Mikenna Parraz, Jakob Contreras, Justus Contreras, Andrew Parraz, Jr., Maleah Contreras, Malachi Contreras, Austin Parraz, and Aryan Parraz; and her great-grandchildren, Devin Orozco, Eliora Madrid, Brielle Haschets, and Ezra Madrid.

She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond Ornelas (Rosemary) and Bobby Ornelas; her sister, Irma Pena (Tony); and many nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly. Ida also leaves behind lifelong friends whom she loved dearly and who held a special place in her heart.

Pallbearers will include Raymond Ornelas, Troy Mace, Brandon Parraz, Malachi Contreras, Andrew Parraz Jr., and Austin Parraz. Honorary pallbearers will include her grandchildren, godchildren and Frank Alan Ornelas Jr.

Ida leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories that will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know and love her. Her kindness, laughter, warm hugs, and loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
