Hector S. Guerra

Obituary Hector S. Guerra, 85, of Montclair Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away December 3, 2020 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4 PM 6 PM, Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Visitation will be limited to 5 people in the chapel at a time and facial coverings are required. Private services will be held. Hector was born August 20, 1935 in Malaga, NM to Martin and Juana (Sanchez) Guerra. He graduated from Carlsbad High School. Hector served his country in the U.S. Army in Alaska. He married Beatrice Leyva May 17, 1959 in Carlsbad. Hector worked in the potash mines for 35 years before retiring. He enjoyed hunting and car racing. Hector was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Beatrice Leyva Guerra; brothers, Bernabe Guerra, Joel Guerra; sisters: Lorencia Fierro, Taviana Gonzalez, Luz Hernandez and Alicia Anderson. Survivors are his long-time companion, Maria Medina; children: Hector Harvey Guerra and wife, Debbie, Sylvia Morgan and husband, Drew, Greg Guerra and wife, Alma; grandchildren: Harvey Guerra, Gabriel Guerra and wife, Ashley, Greg Guerra, III, Gaby Guerra, Isaiah Morgan, Isabella Morgan; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Emma Rodriguez, Belen Guerra and Maria Lund and numerous nieces and nephews.
