Harold Bell Tapp, 85, of Carlsbad, New Mexico peacefully met his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. Harold was born on April 2, 1935 in Liberty, Missouri to Edmund and Lucille Tapp. He was the second oldest of 8 boys.
Harold grew up in Liberty, Missouri. He attended a one room school house, Mosby County School, in Clay County, Mo. Mr. Tapp graduated from Boise City High School and attended William Jewell College, in Liberty, Mo. He started his family in the late 50's where he was blessed with four children. He raised them in faith and love and instilled in them the importance of having a personal relationship with God. His legacy has been passed down through the generations and lives on in their hearts and minds. Harold loved to go hiking, spelunking, and began snow skiing at age 50. Harold had a great passion for reading, studying and constantly learning new things. Harold was not a large man in size but a giant in strength and wisdom. He will forever be remembered and cherished by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed until they see him again.
Harold was preceded in death by his father, Edmund Tapp; mother, Lucille Tapp; and four brothers, Bob, Kenneth, Frank and Roy.
Harold is survived by his son Alan (Revelle) Tapp of Nara Visa, NM; daughter, Carol Ann Tapp of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Betti Jo (Joe) Weber of Hood,TX ; daughter, Kathy (Henry) Castaneda of Carlsbad, NM; twelve grandchildren: Jennifer (Bryan) Fagan of Amarillo, TX, David (Elizabeth) Tapp of Dumas, TX, Amanda (Chris) Tapp of Amarillo, TX, Sarah (Blake) Owens of Carlsbad, NM, Luke (Stacy) Weber of Austin, TX, Hannah (Demetrius) Ellis of Waco, TX, Sam Weber of Austin, TX, Rachel Weber of Hood, TX, Rory (Jacqueline) Castaneda of Carlsbad, NM, Katie Jo (Jimmie) Castaneda of Carlsbad, NM, Ashley (John) Ramirez of Carlsbad, NM, Jacob (Lauryn) Castaneda of Carlsbad, NM; twenty great-grandchildren: Anthony, Ami, Matthew, Addison, Katelyn, Zachary, Olivia, Dane, Harper, Quinn, Elle, Legend, Lawson, Damara, Solara, Roenin, Brody, Trace, Isabelle, and Eden; brother, Jim Tapp of Lubbock, TX; brother, Charles “Putt” (Linda) Tapp of Boise City, NM; brother, Paul (Sharon) Tapp of Marshall, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Harold Tapp would like to sincerely thank everyone associated with Encompass Healthcare and Hospice of Carlsbad. The nurses became like family and always treated Mr. Tapp with the utmost respect. Special thanks to Harold's precious caregiver, Jeanette Wallace. The loving care she unconditionally gave to Mr. Tapp and shared with his daughters goes beyond measure.
Visitation is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, March 19, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have a graveside service officiated by Chaplain Mike Adams. Interment will take place at Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
