Guadalupe was born October 10, 1935 in Los Indios, Texas to Maria De La Luz (Martinez) and Macedonio Rodriquez and raised with the help of her grandparents, Miguel and Josefa Martinez. whom she loved dearly.

Guadalupe met the love of her life, Jose Moises Rodriguez in 1955 and they married in 1956.

Together they settled in New Mexico where they lived and managed the restaurant at the Guadalupe Mountains National Park which is now the Museum at Frijole Ranch, until they moved to Carlsbad where he worked at the Potash Mines and she dedicated her time to become a mother and housewife.

Both of their passion for cooking did not cease and together they opened a restaurant in Carlsbad named Lupita's Cafe, which was located where Sutherland's is now. They sold that business license to Armando Larez who later opened Larez Cafe and became proprietors of the Mint Bar and Lounge where the Movie "The Honkers" was filmed in 1971. They met Slim Pickens and the entire crew while the movie was being filmed.

After a sudden illness which left her husband disabled, Lupe stayed home to take care of him and were rarely inseparable. They continued to cook for family and friends and no one could visit their home and leave without eating.

Education was very important to them and they encouraged their children to pursue a higher education.  Lupe also enjoyed gardening, swimming and sewing. Providing for her family brought her the most joy.
