Guadalupe "Lupe" Herrera

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Guadalupe (Lupe) Santiago Herrera. He went to be with our Lord on May 17, 2026, in Carlsbad, NM, surrounded by the love of his family.

Lupe was born August 7, 1970, in Roswell, NM, to Guadalupe J. Herrera and Bobbie McCarter Herrera.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Alexis Jade Herrera; mother, Bobbie Jean Herrera; his only sibling, his little sister, Shawna Rene Adams; his grandmother, Nadine Gill; and his grandmother, (Nana) Emilia Herrera, who helped raise him.

Lupe worked tirelessly all his life with one main purpose: to support and protect his children. He was a proud, hardworking man, whether navigating the miles as a long-haul trucker or working for many years at Halliburton. He poured his heart into everything he did, making true, lasting friendships along the way. Some of those friends became his brothers, forming a family bond that meant the world to him.

Lupe is survived by his girlfriend of 14 years, Melissa Jenkins; his beloved children and grandchildren; son, Roman Herrera and grandson, Demetri Herrera; daughter, Jazmine Meza and spouse, Allen Meza, and grandson, David Meza all of Abilene, TX; his son, Guadalupe Herrera and girlfriend, Febe Murillo; son, Enrique Herrera, daughter, Alexis Martinez and spouse, Zach Martinez and granddaughters: Dalilah and Lily; daughter, Brittany Jenkins and fiancé, Alexis Vasquez; son, Chance Jenkins and fiancé, Jaylee Shatney, all of Carlsbad, NM. He is further survived by his loving Tios, Tias, and many primos.

His family would like to thank the hospice nurses who cared for Lupe in his last days. A very special thank you goes to his friend-brother, Ken Cantrell, who traveled from Montana to help care for Lupe in his final days. Ken is a brother who showed Lupe what family is all about in his time of need, and we will be eternally grateful to him.

Lupe's boisterous laugh, good nature, positive outlook, and wonderful heart will be dearly missed by all. Rest in peace, you kind and beautiful soul.

Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear.
