Guadalupe Carrasco Aranda, 92, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, surrounded by her family.  Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at San Jose Catholic Church, followed by Mass of Christian burial with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.

Guadalupe was born in El Barranco Azul, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico October 24, 1929, she was one of 9 children born to Francisca Granado y Cecilio Carrasco.

She married Cristin Aranda May 31, 1947. Soon after they started their family in Carlsbad. Lupe became a proud naturalized citizen, February 27, 1981.

Lupe worked for the Carlsbad Schools prior to her retirement in 1991. She was a talented cook who enjoyed gardening, crafting and going to the casino. She was an avid supporter of church and community. She had enormous love for her family, church and friends. She was a Charter Member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court San Jose #2252.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 68 years, Cristin Aranda and 7 siblings.

Guadalupe is survived by a brother Ernesto Carrasco (Ojinaga, Mexico), sister-in-law Alejandra Aranda Garcia (Roswell, NM) and 9 children Francisco Aranda, Christina Aranda-Taylor (Keller, TX), Joe Aranda, Roberto (Connie) Aranda, Patricia Aranda (Austin, TX), Bill (Jean) Aranda (Borger, TX), Avelina (Jimmie) Childress, Lourdes (Steve) Guthrie (Baton Rouge, LA), Mark (Shawna) Aranda (Monument, NM); 17 grandchildren Terri Fisher, Frank Aranda Jr., Cris Aranda, Stacy DeHaven, Victoria Escalante, Antonio Aranda, Abigail Olivas, Robert Aranda Jr., Veronica Methola, Nathanial Rennie, Lourdes Aranda, Alicia Guzman, Jeremy Childress, Micahlyn Habisch, Macy Barrios, Marcos Aranda Jr., Will Aranda; 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
