Gregoria Lopez “Goya” Fierro

Gregoria Lopez “Goya” Fierro, 100, of W. Pecan Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away February 16, 2022 at her home.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. Edward Catholic Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery.

Goya was born November 28, 1921 in Carlsbad, NM, to Daniel and Merced Lopez.  She loved watching sports, especially baseball.  Goya never drove; therefore, she walked everywhere and enjoyed it.  She cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Goya was a life-long member of St. Edward Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Manuel Fierro; sons, Robert Fierro, Sammy “Boy” Fierro; two grandsons and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her son, David Fierro, Sr. and wife, Rosa; daughters: Alicia Coates and Belinda Price and husband, Reed; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Lopez; sisters: Helen Garcia, Maria Galvan and Elia Cordova, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dallas Patterson, Arthur Price, David Fierro, Jr., Cina Melendres, Delora Fierro and Terri Flores.
