Gloria Ashford

Gloria Ashford, 60, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed way on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Gloria was born on March 6, 1961, in Gallup, New Mexico to Lloyd and Anita Sanchez.

Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.

Gloria was a loving and caring person, with a heart of gold. She was always ready to help anyone around her. She spent over ten years being a caregiver at CARC, helping the residence there feel loved and special all while giving them vocational instruction. Gloria loved her family, and cherished each moment she had with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and wife, and always put a smile on their faces, and a joyous laughter in their hearts. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Sanchez; mother, Anita Sanchez; and niece, Maria “Chata” Hernandez;

Gloria is survived by her husband, Gary Ashford of Carlsbad, NM; four children: James Ashford and wife, Pohai of Las Vegas, NV; Sandy Achey of Carlsbad, NM; Gerald Ashford of Carlsbad, NM; and Isaiah Ashford and wife, Desirae of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren; four siblings: Ramona Sanchez of Carlsbad, NM; Josie Chavarria and husband, Chavelo of Gallup, NM; John Sanchez, Jr. and wife, Tisha of Albuquerque, NM; and Geri Hernandez and husband, Antonio of Gallup, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
