Obituary Gilbert Ruiz Ortega, 64, of Leavel Dr., Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Gilbert Ruiz Ortega, was born February 4, 1956 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Pablo Fuentez and Lazarah Sara (Ruiz) Ortega. He was employed at Wal-Mart he was a night stocker/floor maintenance. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army. He helped raise his niece Florentina Ortega and nephew Michael DeAnda. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Pablo Ortega, Jr. Survivors are Aunt Juana Ortega, of Carlsbad, NM ; companion: Kaye Frazier; sisters: Rosa Onsurez of Loving, NM; Elinda DeAnda of Carlsbad, NM; Lucinda Conner of Loving, NM; brother: Jerry Ortega of El Paso, TX.
