George and Betty Reddy

George Richard Reddy passed away in San Antonio, Texas on September 11, 2020.

George was born in Clovis, New Mexico on December 8, 1931, to Robert Roy and Inda Rhea (Murrill) Reddy. The family soon moved to Carlsbad where George grew up. After graduating from high school, George served in the U. S. Air Force from 1950 until 1953. Shortly before his honorable discharge, George married his beloved wife Betty, also from Carlsbad, and they began a long and happy marriage.

George earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Geology from the University of New Mexico. While employed as a petroleum geologist in the oil and gas industry, he moved his family to many places along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana and overseas to England and Singapore before finally coming home to New Mexico to establish himself as a consulting geologist in Roswell. George and Betty were members of First United Methodist Church and active in the oil and gas community in Roswell for many years. Late in 2014, they relocated to San Antonio.

George was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Nathaniel George Mealey. He is survived by his bride of 67 years, Betty, sister Robbie Holman and her husband Wilson, brother Dan Reddy and his wife Barbara, favorite uncle James Murrill, daughter Rhonda Weiland and her husband Chip, daughter Carla Mealey and her husband Brian, grandchildren Katelin St. Clair, Colleen Olson, and Patrick Mealey, and five great grandchildren.

He was a good man who loved dearly and was dearly loved.

Betty Lou Rupe Reddy passed away in San Antonio, Texas on December 1, 2021.

Betty was born in Otis, New Mexico on November 13, 1932, to Earl Lemul and Beulah Earl (Bradley) Rupe. The family lived and worked in Carlsbad as Betty grew up and graduated from Carlsbad High School. It was also in Carlsbad where she met and married George Richard Reddy, her loving husband of 67 happy years. Betty worked to support the family as George pursued his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. Once George was employed in the oil and gas industry, Betty was able to return her focus to the home. The family moved frequently to many places along the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana, and overseas to England and Singapore.

In 1975, George and Betty relocated to Roswell, New Mexico to establish a geological exploration and consulting business. Betty quickly learned the operation of the business and was George’s invaluable Administrative Assistant until they retired. In addition to assisting George with the consulting business, Betty accepted a position at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Roswell, where she served as the church secretary for 17 years. George and Betty were members of First United Methodist Church and were active in the oil and gas community in Roswell for many years. Late in 2014, they relocated to San Antonio.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, her brother Jack Rupe, her brother Cotton Rupe, and a grandson, Nathaniel George Mealey. She is survived by daughter Rhonda Weiland and her husband Chip, daughter Carla Mealey and her husband Brian, grandchildren Katelin St. Clair, Colleen Olson, and Patrick Mealey, and five great grandchildren.

Betty was a gracious woman who served God, family, friends, and her community with unwavering, quiet strength. She will be dearly missed and those who loved her take comfort in the joy that she is now eternally with God.
