Gary Clark Mitchell, 68, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021, at his home in Carlsbad with loved ones by his side. Private services were held and cremation has taken place at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Gary was born July 20, 1952, in Midland, Texas to William Clark Mitchell and Wanda Mitchell. He married Sharon Carter April 25, 1985, in Midland. He was a Master Barber and had shops in Midland, Jefferson and Longview, Texas, and Capitan and Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was also a welder and was a Welding Inspector on several power plant shut down jobs in East Texas. He was proud of being a dog handler in the Army and of his membership in the Masons.
Gary was happiest tinkering in his workshop or enjoying the wildlife at the cabin in Cloudcroft.
He loved animals and had all kinds throughout his life, the latest being his sweet chihuahua “Nurse” Bella who always wiggled in beside him in his chair.
Waiting in heaven to welcome him is his father, William Clark Mitchell; his in-laws, Bob and Donna Carter; his brother, David Mitchell and sisters: Cherie Garza and LeeAnn McIntyre.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Carter) Mitchell; his mother, Wanda Morrow of Brownwood, Texas; brothers: Cory Mitchell and Scott (Sandra) Wilson; sisters: Keli (Khaled) Abuhasheesh, and Connie (Lauren) Vyers all of Texas, and Gina West of Georgia, sisters and brothers-in-law: Sheila (Jim) Bailey, Mary Jayne (Dale) O’Rear, all of Carlsbad, NM, Dale Carter of California and numerous nieces and nephews.
