Garland E. Banister

Garland E. Banister, 70, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at his home. Cremation has taken place and family services will take place at a later date.

Garland was born December 4, 1955, in Clovis, NM, to Melvin and Christine (Mashburn) Banister. He graduated from Hagerman High School in 1973. Garland worked in the potash mines for 18 years. In 2005, he began work building wind turbines until retiring. Garland enjoyed fishing and working on vehicles. He was a jack of all trades. Garland was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys Banister.

Survivors are his son, Shaun Banister and wife, Tylar; daughters: Amber Burkett and husband, Sawyer, and Chloe Grace Banister; grandchildren: Caleb Banister, Lilah Banister, Bristol Banister, Brooks Banister, and Suede Burkett; siblings: Cynthia Langenegger and husband, John, Melvin Banister and wife, Tricia, Diana Banister and husband, Lloyd Barella, and numerous nieces and nephews.
