Frankie R. Gipson

Frankie R. Wray Gipson, born March 11, 1942 passed away peacefully surrounded by her kids on October 2, 2025. 

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at New Song Christian Fellowship in Carlsbad, NM.

Frankie loved her family fiercely. She looked forward to family gatherings after church on Sundays. She was a hard-working and loving mother. Frankie had a special needs child, Tater Gipson, and he was her angel child. Her kids and grandkids were her whole world. Frankie looked forward to celebrating holidays and birthdays, so she could have family gatherings. And oh yes, we all know J.J., the baby, was her favorite child! LOL!

Frankie married Jim Gipson on October 3, 1959 in Glenco, NM. They had four children: Raythe Logan Gipson, Jamalyn “Jamie” Gipson Chesser, Leloyd “Tater” Gipson and Jimy Jace “J.J.” Gipson.

She lived on the Gipson Ranch in Hondo Valley, NM for 25 years being a rancher’s wife and taking care of her kids. She was very involved with the kids and was FFA president. Frankie worked at Valley State Bank in Roswell, NM. She was employed and was a volunteer at the CARC farm in Carlsbad, NM. They considered her a legend. She was also an activity director for multiple nursing homes throughout her life.

Frankie is survived by her three kids; Jamie Chesser (Boyd) from Blanket, Texas, Tater Gipson from Carlsbad, NM, and Jimy “J.J.” Gipson (Joretta) from Lamesa, Texas; five grandchildren: Brandon Chesser (Lindsey) of Eastland, Texas, Brandy Watson (Jonathan) of San Antonio, Texas, Jazmyn Jaramillo of Lamesa, Texas, Jamyn Jaramillo and Natalie Casillas of Lamesa and Jadyn Jaramillo of Lamesa; seven great-grandchildren: Allison Chesser, Kenzlee Watson, Natalie Chesser, Paxton Watson, Presley Chesser, Juleigh Felan, Jensyn Jaramillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Wray and Voncyle Russell-Hamilton, her son, Raythe Logan Gipson, her late ex-husband, Jim Gipson and Grandma Nettie and Art Johnson.
