It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Franklin “Frank” Joyce II, who died on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the age of 83, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Frank was the son of John R. Joyce II and Elizabeth “Betty” Parulis Joyce. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
After spending the majority of his childhood in Carlsbad, Frank attended Choate Rosemary Hall, a boarding school in Connecticut, which began his almost 50 years of living on the east coast. He continued his studies at the University of North Carolina before graduating from Campbell University, where he developed a passion for financial markets.
Shortly after graduating from school, Frank began working as a stockbroker, a job that quickly turned into a career, which he loved and continued to work in for almost 50 years. He was a well-respected figure in his field and took great joy in discussing stocks, the economy, and sharing the financial knowledge he accumulated over his career with others, especially those who were just beginning their professional journeys.
Beyond his professional success, Frank cared deeply for his family and friends. He was focused on ensuring his children received high quality educations and tried his best to set them up for personal and professional success. He also loved spending time with his friends, whether grabbing a steak, listening to music, or having a conversation at one of the many dinners or cocktail parties he hosted over the years.
Frank is survived by his two sons and their wives, James “Andrew” Joyce and Amber Joyce, Christopher Joyce and Leslie Joyce; his four grandchildren, Jack Joyce, Emmy Kay Joyce, Sydney Joyce, and James “Jamie” Joyce, and his sister, Elizabeth “Chicki” Joyce, all of whom he loved deeply.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at Carlsbad Cemetery on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Frank touched are invited to attend as we celebrate his remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Frank’s name.
