Elva Bustamante

Elva C. Bustamante, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM -7:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at San Jose Catholic church followed by Liturgy Outside the Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Elva C. Bustamante was born August 12, 1937 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico to Basilio Carrillo and Petra Ramirez. She married Ramon Bustamante on June 1959.

Elva moved from Ojinaga to Carlsbad in 1991 and she worked as housekeeping for many years. She enjoyed reciting the rosary, cooking, watching tv and spending time with family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all those who surrounded her.

Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Bustamante; her daughter, Sofia Corrales; her parents, Basilio Carrillo and Petra Ramires; two sisters, one brother, two brother-in-laws, and daughter-in-law, Sandra Bustamante.

She is survived by her children: Zulema and husband, Jose Rodriguez of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Hector Bustamante of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Rosa E. Bustamante and husband, Francisco Chavez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Eduardo Bustamante, Leticia Bustamante and Jose A. Bustamante of Carlsbad, New Mexico; sisters: Maria E. Garcia, Albina Vasquez and husband, Delia Hernandez and husband; brothers, Francisco Carrillo and Edmondo Carrillo and wife; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Elva’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
