Elsa Guevara Ramirez

Elsa Ramirez, 87, of Victorville, CA passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025. 

Elsa Guevara was born to Ramon (Papa) and Leocadia Madrid (Mama Chata) Guevara on January 6,1938. She later met and married the love of her life, Avel Ramirez. While raising a family of their own in California, Avel and Elsa worked in the grocery industry as meat cutters and packers until their retirement. Elsa enjoyed sewing and many family and friends were blessed to be gifted with her creations, aprons, curtains, clothes and doll clothes. She was also an exceptional cook who loved making meals for her loved ones. She was also blessed to find love a second time when she reunited with Ernesto Flores in 2023. They had known each other since 1954.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents, husband Avel, Brothers: Salvador Guevara, Ervell Guevara, Ramon (Picho) Gebara (Rachel), Antonio Madrid Guevara (Jane). Sisters: Hortencia Guevara, Maria Aurora Guevara, Manuela (Nena) Carrasco, Lucilla (Lucy) Urquidez (Abel), Rosa Castro-Urbina and beloved Son-in-Law Rogelio Smith.

Elsa is survived by her daughters; Viola Ramirez and husband Jerry Castillo, Diana Smith, Yvonne (Bonnie) Ramirez and Cindy Ramirez and husband Johnny Garcia, Sisters; Arscenia (Arcie) Lara (Armando ‘Tansi); Sylvia Mirabal (Henry) and Cory Guevara (Roy).

Grandchildren; Chaundra Elsa Ruiz-Ortega (Eduardo), Rogelio Smith (Laura), Andy Monsies Smith, George Verdugo, Michael Verdugo (Wendy Phongvongkham), Celina Garcia (Manuel), John Garcia (Georgina), Anthony Garcia (Celina), Jessica Garcia (Chris), Emilio Gudino, Adrian Lopes and Lisa Ruiz; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The daughters of Elsa extend their gratitude for the love and care shown to Elsa by Niece Valerie Guevara-Branson, Nephew Mario H. Guevara and companion Ernesto Flores. 

There will be no visitation. A private family farewell will be held at a later date.
