Eliseo "Cheo" Moreno, Jr.

Eliseo “Cheo” Moreno, Jr., 73, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away July 24, 2026 at his home. Visitation will be 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2026 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Jamieson officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Eliseo was born June 30, 1953, in Carlsbad, NM, to Eliseo and Alice (Olguin) Moreno. He worked in the potash mines for many years and also worked construction, roofing, and brick laying. Cheo enjoyed cooking chili bowl, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He loved hanging out with his buddies. The family would like to thank the staff of Enhabit Hospice for the special care they gave Cheo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Moreno; brothers: David Moreno, Henry Moreno, Gilbert Moreno, Raul Moreno, Joey Moreno; sisters: Evelyn Moreno, Ida Molinar, and Linda Moreno.

Survivors are his grandson, Caleb Moreno; sisters: Emma Hernandez and husband, Armando, Sandra Ramirez, Norma Moreno, Doris Rubio and husband, Steve, Ruby Olivas and husband, Ralph, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Steve Rubio, Jr., James Aguirre, James Rodriguez, Morris Ramriez, Jr., Steven Moreno, Mark Anthony J. Moreno, Georgia Castillo, and Amanda Molinar. Honorary pallbearers are all his nieces and nephews.
