Edward H. “Ed” Shuman, 82, of Cimarron Trail, Carlsbad, NM, passed away May 12, 2025 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 22, 2025 at First Methodist Church Prayer Chapel with Pastor Kelly McCuaig officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ed was born November 20, 1942 in Maidencreek Township, Pennsylvania to Charles and Emma (Reider) Shuman. He graduated from high school in Fleetwood, PA in 1960. Ed earned his associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Pennsylvania State University. He later received a permanent teacher’s certificate in vocational education from Temple University. Ed married Faye Rickenbach August 4, 1973 in Blandon, PA. He owned and operated an automotive repair and machine shop over 30 years. In 2008, they moved to Carlsbad. Ed was a substitute teacher for several years at Carlsbad High School. He loved to sing lead and tenor in Barbershop Quartet and also sang in the church choir at First Methodist Church. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Emma and Charles Shuman; daughter, Donna Sears, and brother, Charles Shuman.
Survivors are his wife, Faye Shuman; daughter, Justine Liptock and husband, Kenny Rick; four grandsons, three great-grandsons; brothers: Richard Shuman and Gene Shuman; his buddy, Benny, and several nieces and nephews.
