Edward C. Parraz

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edward on August 14, 2026, at the age of 63. He peacefully passed at home, with his wife at his side.

Edward was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad, New Mexico, born on July 18, 1963, to his parents Pete B. Parraz and Felicita Campos Parraz. He married his wife, also a lifelong Carlsbad resident, and they were blessed with 2 boys whom Edward was very proud. Their family spiel was that they were a Caveman who married a Cavegirl, who had 2 cave kids who grew up to become Cavemen. Edward lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and love for family and friends.

Edward will be remembered for his culinary talents in the kitchen and on the grill, but primarily his making the best, most delicious asado. And enjoyed making his asado for family, friends, and any other celebratory events. Edward also enjoyed woodworking, crafting, and gardening, growing the ingredients for salsa, another popular dish known of him, a recipe he inherited from his father-law. He also had an interest in law enforcement where he worked as a Reserve Officer with the Carlsbad Police Department, Eddy County Sheriff's Office, and the New Mexico Mounted State Police Department.

Edward was a hard-working employee who was loyal and took pride in doing the job right. His 35+ years career in the shipping and courier industry began when he and a friend opened the first Pac' n Mail Shipping Services store in Carlsbad, back in the mid 1980's, which led to his working as a courier for Airborne Express, for 8 years then on to work for FedEx where he retired from the courier business after 25 years of service. Edward's last career began in 2014 at the WIPP, where he worked in the Hoisting department as a Shaft Tender until May 2026 when he took early leave from his working career.

Over the short span of his life, Edward met, made, and had many friends. and several who became "family by heart". For those who got to know Edward, they were touched by his generosity, warmth, his humor, and unwavering support. Edward never hesitated to give a helping hand to family, friends, to church family or to give of his time, even to strangers who would be stranded on the side of the road.

Edward is survived by his wife, Nancie, of 38 years, their sons, Ryan Parraz, of Keller. Texas, and Cory Parraz, of San Diego, California. His mother Felicita Parraz of Carlsbad, New Mexico, brothers Epi, (Lina), Sam, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Ricky, (Leslie) of Tucson, Arizona. Edward is also survived by many nieces and nephews from both sides of his and his wife's families.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, Pete B. Parraz, his sister Sally Oney, his youngest brother, Robert Parraz, and his niece Tera Trujillo. He also leaves behind several friends who were "family by heart" who enriched his life.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Standpipe Road Baptist Church, 1701 Standpipe Road, with Edward's friend Pastor Lance Redman officiating. Burial will be held in the new division at the Carlsbad Cemetery. A meal will be served afterward at the church. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of Edward.

Though deeply missed, Edward's memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Edward, close to our hearts you will ever be and loved and remembered in every deed.
