Edith “Edie” Juanell Reese, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025 at her home.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brett Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
She was born December 26, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas to Ollie Dale Epps and Warren Barnes. Edie was a devoted Christian and exceptional woman, she was married to the love of her life, Gene, for 55 wonderful years. Outgoing and full of life, she never met a stranger—her joyful laugh and the unique way she spoke were truly infectious and lit up every room she entered. She had a flair for glitz, glam, and all things sparkly, a reflection of her bold and beautiful spirit. Though bashful, she had a stunning singing voice that brought joy to those lucky enough to hear it. She loved to fish and mastered every part of it—from tying the hook to catching, cleaning, and cooking the day’s catch. While cooking wasn’t her strong suit at the beginning of her marriage, she and Gene learned and laughed together in the kitchen, growing stronger with each passing year. Above all, she was deeply proud and supportive of her family, the true center of her world. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
