Don Dando, 83, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 1, 2026, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Suttle officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Don was born June 4, 1942, in Amsterdam, Ohio, to Percy and Mary (Warrington) Dando and moved to New Mexico with his parents at the age of nine. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1960. Don was dedicated electrician throughout his life, working for AMAX Potash Company until 1981. He then worked for Pennzoil until the sulfur mine closed in 2000. During retirement, he started his own brush-hog business, contracting with numerous clients including the railroad.

Don treasured spending time with his family attending NASCAR races with his son, Bill, and helping his daughter, Tracy, with any project big or small. Don’s delight was chasing his four grandchildren around to rodeo and sporting events. Don also loved animals, shown by the numerous loyal Labrador Retrievers he had throughout his life. His family cherished every moment with him because of his love for them. His grandson Justin gave care and support for his PaPa when he needed it the most. Don passed away surrounded by his loving family in Flower Mound, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tamara Ormand and sister, Jane Gadd.

Survivors are his daughter, Tracy Sherman and husband, John; son, Bill Dando; grandchildren: Brooke Wilson and husband, Rodey, Megan Dando, and Justin Dando; great-grandchildren: Luke Ormand and Rio Wilson; brother, Bob Dando and wife, Thersa; sister, Carol Griffin; brother, Terry Dando and wife, Yolanda, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Justin Dando, Kelly Griffin, John Sherman, Rodey Wilson, Travis Beard, and Richard West.
