Dennis F. Phillips

Dennis Phillips, 72, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away September 2, 2025 in El Paso, TX. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Terry McKean officiating.

Dennis was born on May 11, 1953 in Carlsbad, NM to R. E. and Mary (Lee) Phillips. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1971. Dennis married Joyce Ann Burton July 28, 1982 here in Carlsbad. He worked for IMC Potash over 27 years before retiring. Dennis recently worked at Lowe’s which he enjoyed. He loved camping, fishing, motorcycles, and hunting but most of all spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Dennis had an infectious personality and never met a stranger as he was known for conversation. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Teresa A. Elizondo, son-in-law, Marcos Elizondo, grandson, Mark Ryan Hinojos and brother, Bobby Phillips.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce A. Phillips; children: Tamara Davenport and husband, Steve, Misty Phillips and Dennis R. Phillips; grandchildren: Kandra Estes and husband, Derick, Christal Fuentez, Shalisa Rivas and husband, Luis, Nikki Medina and husband, Jacob and Raymond Fuentez; great-grandchildren: Lily, Andrew, Alex, Matthew, Alicia, Angel, Neiveo, Charitee, Chaleesta, Aaliyah, Perseyis, Joy, Luis, Emilo, Israel, Zerlira, Jazlyn, Aurelia and Everlee; sister, Emily Weston; brother, Tommy Phillips and wife, Melba, twin brother, David L. Phillips and wife Sally; sister-in-law, Becky Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Davenport, Cy Williams, Luis Rivas, David Phillips, Tommy Phillips and Tim Weston.
