David J. Acevedo

David J Acevedo, 3418 Sunnyview Ave, Carlsbad NM went home to be with The Lord On Sunday, March 6th, 2022.

David J Acevedo was born November 14th 1955 in Tucson AZ to Damacio Acevedo and Socorro Martinez. David was the forth oldest out of the six children his mother had. David remembers at a very young age as soon as he was able to hold a shovel , his father always had him and his brothers outside working . Damacio  showed his boys what it was to be strong hard working men and taught them the skills they would need to later provide for their families. David also loved to watch his mother cook, as no one could compare to her homemade tortillas that would just melt in your mouth. David enjoyed being with his brothers and sisters and they all shared a special close relationship . They have always had each other’s back and there isn’t anything they would not do for each other. David was also an amazing athlete and shined in cross country and broke many records at San Manuel High School where he later graduated in 1974.

On February 14th, 1986 David met his soulmate Andrea J Weisner, of San Manuel AZ. They got married on November 14th ,1987 in Oracle AZ. Shortly after the newlyweds moved to Carlsbad NM where David started his career with the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. David loved his job and took a lot of pride in his work. Most of all he cherished the friendships and memories he made throughout the 34 years he was there.  Sadly on December 20th,2020 David’s world was forever changed when he lost the love of his life Andrea to Covid-19. July of 2021 David retired from WIPP and spent his time traveling what he could with his children and made some unforgettable precious memories with his family.

You could never find David just sitting around, he was always outside working and was a jack of all trades there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He worked from sun up to sun down . David enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, and loved taking his grandson’s along as they got older. When it came to sports he never missed a game . He was a die hard Arizona fan and loved watching his Wildcats and Cardinals play . Over the years he took his family to several Cardinal games as they made it a tradition to go to a game every year. But mostly he cheered for them at home yelling at the TV and coaching from his couch. David’s pride and joy was his wife, and his children, he loved every moment he spent with them. Most of all the ultimate joy was his grandchildren that he showered with love and always loved spoiling them.

He is survived by his 4 children and 9 grandchildren, Daughter Angela Acevedo ( Daughters, Alyssa, Aalihya, Ava, Adele, son Abel). Son Andrew J Weisner ( wife Angie, son AJ ,daughter Adalyn). Daughter Briann (Acevedo) Stevens ( husband Ryan , sons Leadon & Iver ). Son David I Acevedo.
