Danny Bob Knight, 70, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026. Born on December 8th, 1955 in Artesia, NM, to Bobby Gene and Earle Gean (Quain) Knight.
Danny was a mechanic by trade, a calling that suited him perfectly. His mind never stopped turning, always drawn to the inner workings of things and eager to understand what made something tick. He spent countless hours building and flying remote-controlled helicopters and airplanes. He was passionate about flight simulator games, and rebuilding computers, vacuums, vehicles of every make and mode; if something had parts, Danny wanted to take it apart and put it back together better than before.
He taught himself to play the guitar and built his own instruments with the creativity of a man who saw possibilities where others saw pieces. He was a huge KISS & Hank Williams Jr. fan...fitting soundtracks for a man who was the life of the party.
Sharp-witted and endlessly humorous, Danny had a gift for perfectly timed remarks and delighted in out-smarting whoever happened to be nearby. He kept people laughing and on their toes. And beneath that quick wit lived one of the kindest, most generous hearts you would ever encounter. Danny never had much in the way of excess, but what little he had, he gave without hesitation to those who had even less. He was the friend people turned to in their darkest hours.
Alongside his daughters, the other great loves of Danny's life were his dogs: Norman, Peewee, and Red. These loyal companions were his constant companions and were adored every day. In Danny's passing, Norman is now in the care of Noah's Ark, where he awaits a loving forever home. If you have room in your heart, there would be no finer tribute than giving Norman the love and adoration he was always shown.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gean Knight.
He is survived by his daughter, Misty Callor (Doug) of Knoxville, TN; his "daughter at heart," Mindy Foster (Mark) of Vernal, UT; four grandchildren, Andrew Callor, Americo (Mayela) Callor, Ayden Callor, and Andon Callor; one great-grandson, Americo Callor; and his brother, Gary Knight, of Carlsbad, NM.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Denton Wood Funeral Home.
