Cruz "Cui" M. Melendrez, III

Cruz “Cui” M. Melendrez, 3rd, 36, of Del Rio Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cruz was born on December 10, 1984, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Cruz and Virginia “Gina” Melendrez, Jr.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday May 7, 2021, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral is scheduled at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Cross Church International with Pastor Roosevelt Armendariz officiation. Interment will take place at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be: Baby Cui Melendrez, Xavier Melendrez, Carlos Galindo, Tristan Thomas, Michael Martinez, Jeremiah Martinez, Anthony Rodriguez, and Mario Silva. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Cruz Melendrez, Jr., Robert Dominguez, Michael Dominguez, Abel Olives, and Antonio Vega.

Growing up, Cruz loved playing baseball, and was an all-star athlete. His number one team was the Raiders. Cruz loved spending time with his family, and having cookouts with everyone. He had an infectious personality that always made people others smile and laugh. His pride and joy were his two children, spending quality time with each of them. Cruz was very much looking forward to becoming a grandfather, and will be watching over her from above. Cruz will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Cruz was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia “Gina” Melendrez; and grandparents.

Cruz is survived by his daughter, Sariyah Melendrez and Tristan Thomas of Carlsbad, NM; son, Cruzito Melendrez, 4th of Carlsbad, NM; one grandbaby to be, Genesis Thomas; father, Cruz Melendrez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Christopher Melendrez of Los Lunas, NM; right hand man, Carlos Galindo; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
