Cory Tate Cook

December 16, 1980 — May 6, 2023

Cory Tate Cook was born December 16, 1980, to Eric Paul and Rhonda (Bridges) Cook in Carlsbad, NM. He went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2023, due to circumstances surrounding a suspicious fire at his home in Santa Fe, NM. Those who knew and loved Cory firmly believe his passing was not accidental. We take comfort in knowing that justice belongs to the Lord, and that Cory is now in the presence of Jesus.

As a child, Cory’s family moved from New Mexico to Texas, first living in Fort Worth while his father attended seminary. Cory later grew up in Lewisville, where he attended DeLay Middle School and graduated from Lewisville High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Child Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Dallas, and later completed a Master’s degree in Psychology at the University of North Texas. His passion was to work with children and help shape young lives through understanding, compassion, and faith.

Cory resided in Fort Collins, Colorado before eventually settling in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he worked in the restaurant industry and built community. He was known for his sharp mind and passionate spirit—he loved discussing topics ranging from politics and religion to sports and philosophy. His appreciation for music was as broad as his love for nature, especially the mountains, where he often found peace.

Cory loved Jesus Christ and held a deep faith that anchored him throughout his life. We are assured that he is now with the Savior he trusted and loved.

He is survived by his parents, Eric and Rhonda Cook, and his brother Robert Cook (Charissa) of Wahiawa, HI. He is also survived by his beloved son, Tyler Cook Scott (Peyton), and three grandchildren: Baylor, Waylon, and Everlee Scott, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life for Cory will be held in conjunction with his mother’s memorial service at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Blodgett Street Baptist Church., There will be a private burial where a portion of Cory’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside his mother and other family members.
