Consuelo "Mama Connie" De Los Santos

Consuelo “Mama Connie” De Los Santos, 89, of Carlsbad, NM, has gained her wings and went to her heavenly home on November 12, 2023, at Lakeview Christian Home surrounded by her daughters, her son, Israel, and close family members. 

Connie was born on August 12, 1934, in Barranco Guadalupe, Chihuahua.  Connie came to the U.S. at the age of 14 where she met and married the love of her life, Hugo.  She is survived by her 6 children: 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. 

Mama Connie was known for her famous cooking.  Her red chili beans and tortillas were one of a kind.  Her biscochitos were requested for many weddings and other events.  She was also known for her beautiful voice. She loved to sing anywhere she went.  Mama Connie was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church and sang with the “El Grupo Agua Viva” choir.  She was a source of strength for her family.  We will forever hold her close and cherish the beautiful moments we shared.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents: Salome and Dolores Chavez; husband, Hugo De Los Santos; granddaughters: Joanna Olivas, Latecia Najera and numerous brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her daughters: Olga Santos, Mandina Najera and husband, Ruben, Israel Santos, Melda Camacho and husband, Rogelio, Hugo Santos and wife, Margie, Liz Buendia and husband, Ramon.

Services will be held at San Jose Catholic Church on November 20, 2023. Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will follow immediately at Carlsbad Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Navarette, Jose Olivas, Adrian Camacho, Ruben Najera, Sebastian Camacho and Raymond Buendia.  Honorary pallbearers will be Zaiyden Najera and Lukas Franco.

The family wishes to thank Lakeview Christian Home and Lakeview Chirstian Hospice for the care they provided to our mother. Special thanks to Maria’s crew at Puckett Place for an excellent job in providing the best care possible.

Our beloved Mama Connie will live on in the hearts of all those who love her.
