Connie M. Mendez

Connie M. Mendez, 61, of Colfax Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at her home. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Monday, June 9, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2014, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10, 2014, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Connie M. Mendez was born on September 25, 1952, in Carlsbad, NM to Francisco and Luz (Calanche) Medina. She was a life-long resident of Carlsbad. Connie loved all animals especially her poodles. She would feed and care for any stray animals that came around. Connie was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Mendez; brother, Juan Medina; sister, Julia Melendrez. Survivors are her sons: Gabriel Mendez of Carlsbad, NM, Willie Mendez of Carlsbad, NM; brothers: Tomas Medina of Carlsbad, NM, Andy Calanche of Carlsbad, NM; uncle, Pascual Calanche of Carlsbad, NM; half-brother, Frank Medina of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces and nephews.
