Clayton Todd Huber, 62, was called home by his Father on August 12, 2026, in Carlsbad, New Mexico surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 1, 1964, in Artesia, New Mexico, to Walter and Gayle Huber.
Clayton was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a special bond with his wife, Valerie Murrill, and they were truly two peas in a pod. They loved traveling together, exploring different cities and countries, and simply enjoying life side by side. Clayton was a loving father to his two sons, Hayden Huber and Kamron Huber, and was always there to support and cheer them on throughout their lives.
Clayton was a hard worker who proudly dedicated 30 years to BNSF Railway. He was known for being someone who could fix just about anything, always willing to lend a hand when someone needed him.
Most of all, Clayton will be remembered for his contagious laughter. When Clayton laughed, everyone around him laughed too-and even after everyone else had stopped, he would still be laughing, starting the laughter all over again. His voice could always be heard, especially from the sidelines of his sons’ games.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Valerie Murrill; his sons, Hayden (Kelsey) Huber and Kamron (Brittny) Huber; his five grandchildren, Brensyn, Everly, Ellie, Nolan, and Colson, who lovingly called him “Pops”; his mother, Gayle Huber; his sister, Michelle Cary; and his nephews, Brent and Blayne Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Huber.
Clayton will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Honorary pall bearers will be Kamron Huber, Brensyn Huber, Brent Jackson, Blayne Jackson, Greg Brown, Chris Austin, Mark Cage, Doug Chandler, and Shawn Mitchell.
Donations can be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter, 5217 Buena Vista Drive, Carlsbad, NM 88220, spay/neuter program.
Services will be held August 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Cavern Baptist Church on Russell Street in Carlsbad, NM. Lunch will be served following at the same location.
