Clara M. Brannan

Clara M. Brannan, 97, of San Juan Manor, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away January 24, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Goings officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Clara M. Brannan was born November 27, 1912 in Wichita, Kansas to Albert and Flossie (Sealey) Musick. She was a high school graduate and received a welding certificate during WWII. She married Ralph C. Brannan on September 23, 1929 in Paola, Kansas. In April 1948 they moved to Carlsbad where they raised their large family. Clara worked at JC Penney, Woolworth's and was the office supply store manager for Sparks Office Supply for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Clara was a member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph C. Brannan in 2001 (after 72 years of marriage); son, Earl Brannon; daughter, Jolene Brannon; grandson, Michael Richards; two brothers and one sister. Survivors include four sons: Ralph K. Brannan of Houston, TX, Larry R. Brannan of Highlands, NC, Carl Lee Brannan of Carlsbad, NM, David B. Brannan of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: J. "Carole" Richards of Carlsbad, NM, Joyce A. Berryman of Harrisburg, VA; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
