Cirilo Cortez

Cirilo Cortez, 82, passed away August 15, 2025 at his home in Carlsbad, NM.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM-6:00 PM, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil will follow at 6:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2025 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Cirilo was born July 9, 1943 in Barrancos, Chihuahua. He was a devoted husband to Herminia Cortez for 50 years and a father to their eight children. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Cirilo was preceded in death by his mother, Silvestra, three sisters and one brother.

Survivors are his spouse, Herminia Cortez; sons: Saul Olivas and spouse, Norma, Leonel Olivas and spouse, Rosylnn, Cirilo Cortez and spouse, Maria, Albian Cortez and spouse, Alicia, and Rodolfo Cortez; daughters: Amabilia Velasquez and spouse, Gregorio, Grieselda Cortez, Elizabeth Fuentes; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Juan Cortez and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gregorio Velasquez, Jr., Alexandro Cortez, Anthony Fuentes, Ivan Olivas, Cesar Martinez, and Christopher Perez.
