Christopher Jr Tavarez, 23, of Carlsbad, NM passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, May 19, 2025 at First Methodist Church with Pastor Jimmy Ryan officiating.
Christopher was born September 5, 2001 in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Carlsbad High School Early College in 2020 with an associate’s degree in automotive technology and continued his education at Universal Technical Institute where he earned his diesel mechanic certifications. He was a mechanic for Kodiak Gas Services. Christopher loved his work as a mechanic, working on his motorcycles, vintage vehicles, especially his “U’HAUL.”
He had a deep love for the things that brought him joy and connection. He was an avid gamer who enjoyed immersing himself in new worlds, a creative soul who could spend hours building intricate Lego sets, and a talented mechanic with a natural understanding of how things worked. One of Christopher’s greatest passions was riding motorcycles, especially alongside his extended family in the Pecos Valley Punishers LEMC Club, where he found camaraderie, purpose, and brotherhood. More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Whether it was sharing laughs, quiet moments, big celebrations, picking on his sisters, or being with those he loved meant everything to him.
Survivors are his parents: Chris and Wendy Tavarez; sisters: Aubrey Morales and husband, Trey, Jaslyn Tavarez, Cyndal and Jovanna Gomez; grandparents: Diane Acosta, Gary and Susan Roper, Judy Nesbit and DJ Woodfield, Will and Debbie Wyatt, Pauline Biscaino; nieces: Layla Morales, Sincere Tanguma; nephews: Treyson Morales and Ace Barron; uncle and aunt: Carlos and Cassie Tavarez; cousin, Carlos Tavarez, III, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
