Christine Hernandez Minner

Christine Hernandez Minner, 87, of Carlsbad, NM passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 in Carlsbad, NM. Christine was born June 28, 1936, in Carlsbad, NM to Tomasa Luna Jimenez and Manuel Hernandez. 

Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Friday, June 7, 2024 at Oasis Church with Pastor John W. Burke officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. 

She married John A. Minner January 21, 1970, in Carlsbad. Christine worked as a supervisor in housekeeping at Holiday Inn for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to Bob Marley, but most of all she loved spending time with her family as they were her pride and joy.  

Christine was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Hernandez; mother, Tomasa Luna Jimenez; husband John A. Minner; son Richard Fierro; daughter Dorene Hernandez; grandchildren Anthony Minner; Desean Minner; Jermaine Minner; great-grandson Joseph Sanchez; brothers Ernest and Orlando Hernandez; sisters Eva Navarrette and Gloria Ortiz. 

Christine is survived by her children: Tony Fierro; Diana Davis and husband Steve; Dennis Minner & Monica Gonzalez; Evelyn “Pee Wee” Minner; John Minner Jr. and wife Jessica; Joey Hernandez, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. Siblings: Eloy Hernandez; Manuel Hernandez Jr. (Margaret); Sally Salgado; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers: Kenneth Sanchez, Jr., Jason Marujo, Jonathan Minner, Zyan Minner, Christopher Welchco, Joe Ingram, Devon Minner, Niziah Minner. Honorary Pallbearers: Tyson Trujillo, Brandon Campbell, Darren Sanchez, Ernesto Hernandez, Mark Florez. 

Reception will follow at Boys & Girls Club Center,  206 East Pecan St.
