Chester Allen Wertman

Chester Allen Wertman passed away peacefully at home May 31, 2026. Over the years he had been cared for by other family members but his daughter Michaela had been caring for him these last fifteen years with a great deal of patience. Chester suffered from severe mental illness but Michaela's care offered him selfless love and attention.

Chester was born in Ashland, Ohio August 1, 1963 to his parents Sonia Lea Howman and Chester Eugene Wertman. Chester was born with a great sense of humor. His siblings, Dianna Lindquist, Cindy Castro, Angelina and Raymond, remember laughing till we cried at the faces we made in the Christmas decorations when we were little. Sledding down the hill in winters and caring for the mice we found in the barn. Chester had an easy disposition. He was a hard worker when he was young and dreamed of having a family. His wish came true when he became father to Christina, Candace, Michaela and Marcus. Michaela's favorite times with her dad include sitting with Chester, and their neighbors and laughing over silly things during the beautiful days of Carlsbad. Michaela wants to thank all of the Carlsbad community that helped her dad or showed him kindness. She and Chester are grateful.

We know that Chester suffered more than he should have had to in this life but he is with Jesus Christ now and feeling more joy than he could've felt in this life because of his illness. He will be remembered for the good times and will be carried in Michaela's heart especially. We know that life is eternal and someday Chester will be with his children again and be perfect. They will catch up and make memories that they missed in this life. Together they will have joy.
