Charlotte Clarie Burton, 83, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born on September 3, 1941, in Maitland, WV. She was raised & educated in Welch, WV. She married Vaughn Burton, Sr. on September 24, 1959. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1960 and had four children. Charlotte & her husband established Burton Electric & Construction in the early 90s.

Charlotte was very close with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She was employed by Tempo, Furr’s, Safeway & retired from Carlsbad Municipal Schools. Charlotte’s hobbies included cooking for her family & friends, crochet, macrame & BINGO. She had a passion for baking & decorating cakes.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Luke A. Williamson; mother, Mary (Ward) Ryan; husband, Vaughn Burton, Sr.; and fourteen siblings.

Charlotte is survived by her four children: Vaughn Burton, Jr. and wife, Jeri of Las Vegas, NV; Jerry Burton and wife, Connie of Carlsbad, NM; Ronnie Burton and wife, Carol of Carlsbad, NM; and Lisa Autrey and husband, Frank of Locust Grove, OK; dear friend, Mary Lavona Howell; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, September 9, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Weisner officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.
