Charles E. "Charlie" Vanzant

Charles E. “Charlie” Vanzant, 94, passed away peacefully at his home.

Graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Pam Patrick and Pastor Brad Coates officiating. Denton-Wood is in charge of all arrangements.

Charles was born on October 1, 1931 in San Jon, NM to William and Pinky Vanzant. He graduated in Price, Utah. While working for Chevron in El Paso he met the love of his life, Nancy DeBrunner. They married in 1966. Charlie and Nancy lived in Denver for 19 years and they moved to Carlsbad in 1980 where he opened Vanzant Tire. Charlie owned and opened the tire store until retiring in 1996. He had a passion for restoring and collecting antique cars and he was an avid golfer.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, James W. Vanzant, Cleo Baxter, Eugene Vanzant, Paul Vanzant and Ruth Joslin.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Nancy Vanzant; daughters: Christina Brunner and husband, Richard, Jeannie Vanzant Miller and husband, Douglas; son, David A. Vanzant and wife, Jo Dee; grandchildren: Kimberley Low and husband, Nick, Dylan Vanzant and wife, Emily, Paighton Vanzant, Morgan Vanzant; great-granddaughter, Zaylee and several nieces and nephews.
