Obituary Brad A. Kostedt, 25, of Carlsbad, NM, died this previous week. He was born February 10, 1995 in Clovis, NM, the son of Allan and Sonja Kostedt. He attended the following schools: Pre-K and Kindergarten in Rankin(TX), 1st and 2nd grades in Van Horn(TX), 3rd grade in Miami(TX), 4th and 5th grades in Tucumcari(NM), 6th-12th grade in Carlsbad(NM) and got his high school diploma in 2017 through Job Corps in Roswell(NM), where he received multiple certificates in landscaping and construction. Brad attended one year at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs(NM) from 2017-2018. He worked at Steel Depot in Hobbs(NM), Penasco in Carlsbad(NM), then Powersat out of Carlsbad(NM). Brad had a passion for basketball and played for Alta Vista Middle School in Carlsbad(NM), and went on to play three years of basketball at Carlsbad High School. Brad was a friend to many, and would do anything for his friends. He always tried to help others that he believed may not be able to help themselves. He had a warm, wonderful and beautiful heart. He was a loving grandson and helped take care of his grandmother, Joan Kostedt, until her passing in October, 2019. Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents, Stan and Joan Kostedt. He is survived by his parents Allan and Sonja of Carlsbad(NM); his sister Samantha and fiance Max Shrake(one of Brads best friends) of Carlsbad, NM; his brothers Travis of Buckeye(AZ) and Michael of Carlsbad(NM). He leaves his aunts & uncles, Glenn (Ruth) of Denver City, TX; Ken (Lisa) of Carlsbad, NM, Brad Taylor (Gwen) of Denver City, TX; and his cousins: Charity (Ryker) , Scott, Hope, Christopher, Wyatt, Sierra, and Raya. He is also survived by another of his best friends, Scotlan Sharp (wife Erin). Brad left behind many great aunts & uncles, second cousins, and friends from wherever he happened to be. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 6 pm at Church Street Church of the Nazarene in Carlsbad, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Church Street Church of the Nazarene Nursery.
