Billy Ray Nabors (89) died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, February 6th at Denton Wood Funeral Home with Paster Howell Scott of First Baptist Church officiating.
Bill was born September 10, 1933 in Hickory, OK to John Colie and Kenna Nabors. At 18 he joined the United States Air Force and shared many delightful stories about places he was stationed especially Limestone, ME. Upon his return to Ada, OK, he met the love of his life Ella Claudine Ross and the two were soon married. After a brief stint in the oil patch, he returned to Ada where he got his degree in Industrial Arts with a minor in History from East Central State University. He moved his little family to New Mexico where he spent 27 teaching first 5th grade and then Electricity and Small Engine Repair. He spent many summers fishing and camping in Colorado. He enjoyed many Caveman Sam’s camping trips.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Claudine of Carlsbad, NM; daughter Kim Bowen (Michael Akers) of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter Karen Handschy (Jim Handschy) of Oracle, AZ; daughter-in-law Sandra Nabors (Rod Krastel), Grandson Bo Bowen (Jordan Bowen), Grand daughter Kaitlin Kleist (Logan Kleist), Grandson Christopher Nabors (Malissa); Grandson Justin Nabors (Shai Nabors); Granddaughter Kenna Orth (Jacob Orth) and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by the best dog in the whole world, Pierre.
